Hostellerie De Plaisance, St. Emilion, France

The setting is spectacular at the top of the old city. Recently remodelled, the room is divine and our lunch was too. The multi-couse tasting menu was inventive but not silly, blending spices, color, texture....so much fun!

The tableware and ambience and service contributed to our delight - but drinking our host's Chateau Dassault 2001 bordeaux which was on the wine list and getting to go into the kitchen with the chef made the entire experience memorable.

They just received their second Michelin star at the restaurant so even if you can't stay - treat yourself to lunch.
